Pave the Way Foundation
Purpose
The mission of the Pave the Way Foundation is to promote and fund philanthropic, civic, and academic endeavors among Lambda Theta Alpha. In addition, we encourage the giving of time, talent, professional expertise and wealth by Lambda Theta Alpha Alumnae while upholding the mission and principles of Lambda Theta Alpha. The Pave the Way Foundation is the vehicle in which Lambda Theta Alpha continues to give back to our community while uplifting our talented youth to their full potential. Please note that all contributions to the Pave The Way Foundation are tax-deductible.
Objectives
- To provide for the unique needs of our community through service, academic and leadership endeavors
- To provide funding resources to carry out initiatives effectively
- To promote a culture of philanthropy among sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha
Philanthropy
On a national level, Lambda Theta Alpha has worked with Equal Opportunity Fund Program students, participated in AIDS walks, ASPIRA recruitment programs, assisted the National Committee to prevent Child Abuse, March for Womens Lives, March of Dimes, Women and Breast Cancer, marched en La Marcha en Washington DC, and volunteered in countless shelters, hospitals, and soup kitchens. We have donated thousands in scholarship money, hurricane relief funds and more.
Our national philanthropy is a mentoring program we innovated called Focused Urban Teens United and Ready for Opportunity (F.U.T.U.R.O.). In this program, chapters adopt a group of students from a local school and work with them on a routine basis. During meeting times with the youth, Lambda Theta Alpha members promote the importance of education, community involvement, and provide educational workshops. We genuinely believe the time spent with these children helps inspire, motivate and empower them to see a college education in their future.
Grant Program
The Pave the Way Foundation awards grants to Lambda Theta Alpha constituencies, in order to promote activities in the areas of community service, leadership development, and academic advancement. Preference is given to programs that are unique Lambda Theta Alpha initiatives, such as start up funds for F.U.T.U.R.O. programs.
