Chapter History

Lambda Delta (Maryland) was established on December 30, 2002, by six LTA alumnae living in the Maryland/Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. These sisters included:

Caryl Cabrera (Upsilon)
Cara Hewitt, Upsilon)
Amy Mejia (Upsilon)
Skarly Mendoza (Beta Tau)
Rosa Pena (Mu)
Sandra Penaherrera (Upsilon)
Alessandra Alma (Phi)

Knowing that LTA is a lifelong commitment and feeling the need to continue the mission of LTA after graduating college, these sisters formed a union to support the undergraduate sisters, as well, as their community. Sisters in Lambda Delta Chapter are mothers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, graphic designers, researchers, educational organizers, restaurant owners, teachers, and more.

Chapter Events/Activities

Chapter activities include supporting and bonding with the undergraduate sisters, working closely with Alpha Delta graduate chapter in Maryland, participating in community services, conducting an annual Spring Leadership Conference, networking amongst other professionals, and hosting educational programming. Within 2003, Lambda Delta alumnae chapter held a financial workshop, fundraising parties, and worked with other Latino Greek Organizations for better community relations. The first Spring Leadership Conference entitled “Embracing the Legacy of Leadership,” was held on February 6, 2004, in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The alumnae chapter worked hard to provide a day of educational, motivational, and inspirational workshops for all undergraduates in Maryland Area One.
