Chapter History
Lambda Epsilon (Texas) was established in march of 2003 by six Texas alumnae of Lambda
Theta Alpha:
Melissa Aguilar (Beta Eta)
Janise Anderson (Beta Mu)
Lisa Garces (Beta Nu)
Miriam Elicia Frias (Beta Nu)
Roxanne Martinez (Chi)
Merisa Trevino (Beta Mu)
Their goal was to establish an alumnae chapter by which alumna of Lambda
Theta Alpha could continue their commitment to the organization and community on
a professional level. The hope was to create a catalyst for social change and
community involvement as well as a network of support for the universal woman of
Lambda Theta Alpha: Sister, Professional, Wife, Mother, and Activist.
In January of 2003, Texas alumnae convened at the University of Houston, Main
Campus for the first Texas Alumnae Dialogue. Sisters discussed key topics
relating to alumnae on the local and national level and the development of the
future Texas Alumnae Chapter. It was here that the first chapter executive board
of Lambda Epsilon was elected.
In March of 2003, Lambda Epsilon was officially recognized by the National
Alumnae Executive Board as an alumnae chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin
Sorority, Incorporated.
