Becoming Active

Below are some options that alumnae and graduate members have when deciding to become active. If you have any questions about your options, please contact the National Alumnae President at alum_president@lambdalady.org.

  1. Become active through the alumnae chapter that corresponds to your undergraduate chapter's area (example: An alumna from Alpha Chapter corresponds with New Jersey Central's Lambda Beta Alumnae Chapter).

  2. Become active through the alumnae chapter that is closest to where you live, if you live somewhere other than your undergraduate chapter's area (example: An alumna who pledged at a chapter in New Jersey but now lives in Florida can become active via Florida's Lambda Alpha Alumnae Chapter). If you live in an area where there is an established alumnae chapter, you do not have the option to become an alumna-at-large.

  3. If there is no established alumnae chapter in your area, you can become an active "Alumna-at-Large" (meaning that you don't correspond to any particular alumnae chapter). As an Alumna-at-Large you are encouraged to pursue establishing an Alumnae Chapter in your area. Contact the National Alumnae President at alum_president@lambdalady.org for information about establishing a new Alumnae Chapter.

  4. Graduate members may opt to become or remain active via their respective graduate chapter or via the local alumnae chapter. This case may apply to a graduate member who moves away from the state where her graduate chapter was established to a location where an alumnae chapter exists.

  5. Become an Area officer during an official election period or by appointment if there is a vacancy. The Area Executive Boards oversee Undergraduate Chapters within a specific area/state and the board consists of an Area Supervisor, Area Administrative Supervisor, Area Finance Supervisor, and Area Orientation Supervisor. The election period begins annually in February. For more information on openings, contact the local Area Executive Board.

  6. Become a National officer during an official election period or by appointment if there is a vacancy. The National Board of Directors consists of the National President, National Executive Vice President, National Director of Operations, National Director of Administration, National Director of Finance, National Director of Public Relations, National Director of Orientation, and the National Director of Expansion. The election period begins bi-annually (every other year in 2006, 2008, 2010 and so on.) in February. For more information on openings, contact the National Board of Directors.
